These promotional materials were developed as part of a campaign to promote a series of lectures presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design.
The poster, promoting a lecture by world-renowned book jacket designer Chip Kidd, was created in the image of one of Kidd’s proclaimed best lesson in design. When researching Kidd, I discovered in an interview that one of his professors asked him to “Either show the apple or write ‘apple’ but Don’t! Do! Both!” Following this mantra, I chose to show a blank book cover, but subtly suggest artistic undertones behind the book. This abstraction of a book cover allows the viewer to make a connection between Chip Kidd as a book jacket designer, without beating them over the head with obvious imagery.
Along the same instruction and artistic guidelines as the previous work, these postcards were developed to promote a lecture given by Andrea Robbins and Max Becher. A stamp featuring one of their photographs was also created for this work.
